The Aquarians

They are a group of people who lived in a Sea side town called Blue Water before the cataclysm. They were all fisherman and sold many fish within the town and tourists who happened to pass by. If they sailed at night, they used the stars as their guide, following the North Star, or Polaris as it is also called, to navigate. They were slightly mutated by the blasts of radiation caused by the cataclysm. Some of the people are more mutated then others. Some have two sets of eye lids so, if underwater, they can close the clear one and still see perfectly. Some have webbing between their fingers and toes to better propel themselves through the water, while others have slightly scaled like skin and others even have finned tails now.

There are two sides of the clan. One side, the Neap Tide, thought there should be a leader of the group; almost like their king in a way. The other side, Abyss, didn’t see that as a very good option. They didn’t believe they needed anyone to make the rules for them. They saw they lived in harmony just fine and could handle themselves. Neap Tide argued that if they happened to be attacked, it would be nice to have a leader who could help and give commands, but Abyss would not see reason. For this, the Aquarians had split into two and forever feuded amongst each other.

With the mutation came powers. The Aquarians didn't have much of them and they weren't all too powerful. It depended on how strong the person was and how they used it. They had the ability to manipulate water and talk to sea life. It was something only some fisherman thought would be pretty cool to experience when they were still human. Now, they had that ability.

Living in the water, the Aquarians found that they could ride mutated sea life, that now looked like sea beasts, to travel wherever they wanted or needed to go.

Weakness

The Aquarians can breathe in water and out of water. Their weakness is if they’re out of water for too long, they would either need to find a source of water or create it themselves with their water controlling ability.

The Battle

A battle was fought between the two clans, after so many years of only feuding. Corvus had accused Abyss that they had kidnapped his daughter, Star. Corvus was furious. That was his daughter and he wanted her home. He didn’t care who he had to take down to make that happen. His son, Io, set out to search the whole land for her when they found Abyss hadn’t taken the princess. He was less ruthless than his father, but he didn’t want to lose his little sister.

Neap Tide

They lived in a beach area, both out of the water and in the water. The sand on the beach was full of scraps of metal, but with the scaled skin, the Aquarians were able to walk on the beach just fine. Some times, someone would find a rare piece of something shiny, like jewelry or a coin. They thought they had lost those forever and kept them in a safe place down below in the sea catacombs. There were shelves after shelves of where they could store items, but, sadly, they were very bare.

Whereas the surface was in ruins, the living enviroment in the waters was somewhat beautiful. The polluted water and mutated sea life took away from the beauty. The Aquarians tried to clean some of the pollutants out to make the ocean floor look better. They could only manage so much. Their homes were in large sea caves where they managed to use rocks as furniture and seaweed and/or algae as cushion.

On the surface they lived in homes that where now basically just metal scraps, but it would have to do. They tried to build shacks out of sticks laying on the beach or seaweed, that didn't hold too well. That's why more Aquarians just lived in the water.

For money they used black or green pearls. The clams had mutated in the water and the pearls they made had a different color to them. Black pearls were very rare to find and had the most value. With the pearls they would buy fish to eat and clothes they made out of any material they could find.
Their ruler, King Corvus, was the one with the strongest power ability. He had a certain power no one had. Whereas the other Aquarians could only manipulate the water and talk to sea life, he could control minds. He rarely used this power, but he was able to read minds, make them think what he wanted them to think, he could make a person come sane or insane, and he could even speak into their mind. This was the reason he was chosen to be ruler.

Because of his celestial name, he gave his children similar celestrial names as well. His eldest was Io, prince and heir to the throne. His younest was Star, the princess of the Aquarians. Corvus had passed down his mind abilities to his children, though his wife, now passed, had none. She was only a mere Aquarian with the same abilities as everyone else, but she had captured Corvus' eye and he loved her dearly. He still misses her to this day. His children were his pride and joy, though he and all the Aquarians knew something was different about Star. She was named Star because the Aquarians said the North Star was glowing bright, more than usual, when she was born. It was rumored the star gave her a certain power, but that has yet to be discovered.

Abyss

The other side of the Aquarians, Abyss, were dark and violent. It was easy to anger them and they wouldn't stop in eliminating an enemy if they were attacked. Surrendering was not an option. They despised the Neap Tide and always tried to plan on ruining their ways of living. Not only did they think having a ruler was wrong, they didn't think the ruler should have the mind abilities he had. Controling a person's mind? How inhumane, or unfish-like, whichever, was that?

Their living envrioment was in the deepest, darkest part of the ocean. They didn't want to be seen by anyone who might try to foil their plans. They lived in dark caves in and out of water. They hardly adventured out of the water for fear of being seen. Only the bravest would live in the caves on the surface, far from the Neap Tide. Most who lived their were to only keep a watchout for any unwanted visitors. They wanted to remain a mystery and they achieved it very well.

Their ways of living were similar to the Neap Tide. Rocks for furniture and seaweed or alge for cusion. Also, black and green pearls were used to buy food and clothing.
